Sara's Pick for FM169!

Thank you to everyone who played along this week showing us your wonderful 3-D creativity and inking up your background stamps.  So many wonderful cards were created, and I enjoyed reading each of your blogs talking about what you had created.  You definitely made it hard for me to pick just one!

I couldn't resist Amy's beautiful card with all the fabulous coloring using the Stampin' Blendabilities.  Her attention to detail definitely shows.  I love the CAS finishing details of her 3-D butterfly and scoring on the edges.  Congrats Amy on a job well done! ~ Sara

Thank you again to everyone who joined us... And a Big Thank You to Sandy Mathis for being our Guest Designer. We'll see you back here in just a few hours with a new Challenge!

FM169.. It's all about the Background!

Welcome to another Friday Mashup!  Sara here to bring you your next challenge... Background stamps can add so much to a card, so I thought it would be fun to see all the different background stamps out there and how each of you like to use them. While you're at it add a little (or a lot!) of dimension to your card by putting something 3-D on your card.  Small and sweet or large and in charge, it's up to you!

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project using a "Background Stamp".
  • Create a project with "something 3-D on it".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "project with a 3-D element and a Background Stamp".

A Big Thank you to Sandy Mathis for providing us with the challenge photo. She has a great tip on using Background Stamps below:

"A quick tip for you to get your card stock perfectly lined up with a large background stamp. Ink up your stamp first, then lay it down face up. Carefully place your card stock where you want it to be. Then take a large clear block (this is Stampin' Up's clear block 'F'), and press down with the clear block. Carefully remove the card stock. Tweezers work well here."

Heidi's Rock Star for FM167

Hey Everyone!  It was so fabulous to see so many watercolor cards for this week's challenge. I'm glad everyone jumped on board and got their feet "wet".

What a beautiful sunset Deepti created for this silhouette scene.  I love the mixture of colors and the yellows rising up like clouds.  Very dreamy! ~ Heidi

FM167 it's a Watercolor Wash kinda week!

Hi Everyone!  It's Heidi, and it's my turn to host the Friday Mashup challenge.  This week, the challenge is to create a card using the watercolor technique and with a clean & simple (CAS) or minimal layer layout.

You can choose a CAS layout, with a main focal point and lots of white space.  The main focal point can be just a portion of the main panel or an attached smaller wash panel or die-cut.  If you choose to fill your space with wash, a project with a main panel and a card base would be ideal.

Watercolor wash is a fun way to fill the background quickly with soft or vibrant color, and you can find a tutorial here.  I can't wait to see what you create!

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a Project with a "Watercolor Wash".
  • Create a "CAS project or one with Minimal Layers".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "CAS project with a Watercolor Wash".
