FM127 Thinking of You!

October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.  Each year, approximately 870,000 families experience the loss of a baby during pregnancy or shortly after birth.  We have a support group through our local hospital called H.A.N.D.S., Hope after Neonatal Death through Sharing, which holds a Walk to Remember and balloon release event every October to commemorate our babies.

In addition, the support group provides assistance and emotional support to the families undergoing the loss of an infant, including ceramic memory boxes, crocheted blankets and infant gowns, and help with funeral arrangements.  I cannot donate these type of items, as I have no talent for these crafts, but I can donate cards.  The support group sends out cards to members during their time of grief as well as on the anniversary of their loss.

My challenge to you is to create a thinking of you or condolence card, and if you are inclined, donate the card to a local infant loss charity or support group.  You can also send your donation card(s) to me (contact me at runningwscissors@earthlink.net for mailing address), and I will collect and donate them to my local H.A.N.D.S. charity.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a "Thinking of you or condolence card."
  2. Create a card/cards and "Donate it to a Charity or Organization of your choice."
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Thinking of you/Condolence Card and donate it to H.A.N.D.S via Heidi."

Please see the Challenge Guidelines above and remember to provide a Link back to the Friday Mashup or use our challenge graphic within your Post. The Linky will close at 6pm EST on Wednesday September 18th.

  1. Thank you for making this a challenge this week. This is very dear to my heart. I have lost 3 babies during pregnancy, 2 of which were stillborn at 19 weeks and at 23 weeks. The most recent being April 20th of this year. Most people do not treat them like they were babies, and very few acknowledge them in any way. That is the hardest part for us because they were very much wanted and loved and a part of our family. Thank you for bringing awareness to this group. Bless you.
